Document Description
Project area consists of 4.8 acres of eastside Jeffrey pine with sage and bitterbrush understory between 4900 and 5000 feet elevation on level ground. The project involves the use of chainsaws and hand tools to remove and pile understory brush. A track chipper will be brought in to treat the piled material. Planned tree removal is minimal (<20 trees) and limited to trees with less than 6 inch DBH. There are no watercourses present in the area.
The intent is to install a shaded fuel break, up to 200 feet wide to protect the Loyalton Senior Center Community from the threat of wildfire.
