Document Description
Glenn-Colusa Irrigation District (GCID) will implement the 2015 Emergency Groundwater Production Program (Project). The Project is a short-term emergency groundwater production program to provide irrigation water from five existing wells to GCID customers that will continue to suffer damage due to the ongoing drought in the Sacramento Valley. Currently, GCID's Sacramento River surface water supplies and diversion rates have been drastically curtailed, as a result of enactment of fishery protection efforts for winter run salmon and the critically dry year. The lack of adequate irrigation water poses an immediate threat to property within GCID. GCID will produce groundwater from these five wells from June 16, 2015, until it is able to sufficiently supplement all crops in its service area and reduce the threat to properties thereto.
