Document Description
Project involves the alteration of portions of Santa Paula Creek at the Harvey Diversion Fish Ladder to conduct two separate project activities. The first is to continue to conduct the routine maintenance activities at the Ladder, mainly to remove rocks, boulders, substrate, and other materials from above, below, and within the Ladder structure. The second project component involves what is called a "Phase 1" project (subsequent work will occur with this same goal), and will take place within the area downstream of the Ladder and is designed to assist in the reconstruction and stabilization of this reach, which has become problematic for fish passage. The design includes installation of up to four separate H-beam structures proposed for a 900-foot reach of the stream. Implementation of this design is anticipated to stabilize the streambed elevation and dissipate flows in this area to allow steelhead to better access the Ladder and to reduce some of the on-going the maintenance needs.
