Document Description
Project consists of the replacement of the existing bridge with a new two lane bridge. Due to the existing roadway alignment, the proposed increase in width of the new bridge, and the roadway approaches, approx. 400 feet on either side of the bridge will need to be widened. The new bridge has been designed to span Morris Ravine, thus no abutments/columns will be placed in the streambed. However, rock slop protection (RSP) will be needed around the new abutments on the western bank of Morris Ravine. A small portion of the RSP will likely encroach on to the bank adjacent to the drainage. Some minor bank recontouring will be needed to place the RSP. The new bridge will be built just south (downstream of the existing bridge). Work will be done on the new bridge from the old one to the extent feasible. After construction of the new bridge is complete, the existing bridge will be demolished including chipping down the footings to 2 feet below the surface of the ground.
