Document Description
A modification of a Conditional Use Permit for a master planned expansion of the existing EDI Transfer Station/Material Recovery Facility (TS/MRF) on W. Washington Avenue into the adjacent northerly parcel fronting on W. Mission Avenue to accommodate additional sorting and improve recovery of recyclable material in order to increase diversion of waste from landfills, as required by state regulations. The proposed project would provide for a total of 216,476 sf of TS/MRF building area. The project does not propose any increase in permitted daily or annual throughput allowances. The master plan improvements include both renovation of existing buildings as well as demolition and construction of buildings to provide additional space for materials separation; reorganization of the site circulation; off-site storm drain improvements; and future construction of an anaerobic digester facility that would produce biogas to generate electricity for the TS.MRF and/or provide Compressed Natural Gas fuel for waste collection vehicles. The project would be constructed in 4 phases, which would be combined or switched as needed for the orderly development of the project.
