Document Description
The Santa Barbara campus proposes to improve and realign the existing UCen Road to create intersections for vehicles, designate pedestrian crossings, improve access to bicycle parking, and increase vehicular and bicycle parking. The project site totals approx. 147,500 sq. ft. (paved area: 88,300 sq ft landscape area including bike parking: 59,200 sq. ft.). Parking Lot 9 would be improved and a new parking lot, Parking Lot 9a, would be constructed and would have approx. 29 spaces. Lot 9 currently has 64 vehicular spaces and would be expanded to 94 spaces. Eighteen mature non-native, decaying eucalyptus trees would be removed from Lot 9. Eleven metered spaces would be installed along UCen Road in front of the Life Sciences Building. There would be approx. 70 new vehicle parking spaces. There are currently 684 bicycle parking spaces within the project site. The proposed project would construct and or improve four bicycle parking lots totaling 1,144 bicycle parking spaces (460 new bicycle parking spaces).
