Document Description
The City of Newman Wastewater Treatment Plant provides primary and equivalent secondary treatment and disposal for wastewater originating in the City of Newman. The City utilizes aeration basin and oxidation pond wastewater treatment with subsequent storage, and reclamation of treated water (termed 'effluent") as irrigation water on agricultural land. The current WWTP site occupies approx 460 acres of land and includes: Headworks facilities and operations building. Two aeration basins totaling approx 8-9 acres. One oxidation pond of 50 acres. Two storage ponds totaling 73 acres. Fodder crop production irrigated primarily with effluent (approx 60 acres of overland flow treatment which is sprinkler irrigated, and 199 acres of land that is flood irrigated)
