Document Description
On June 30, 2015, DTSC approved the IRMWP which proposed to control or abate threats to human health and/or the environment, and to prevent or minimize the spread of chemicals of potential concern (COPCs) in this case, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and 1,4-dixoane - while long-term corrective action alternatives are being evaluated. The 2015 Interim Remedial Work Plan (IRMWP) proposed to install ten groundwater extraction wells aboveground conveyance piping, and an above ground treatment plant to treat extracted groundwater within the Site's boundary. While the onsite Interim remedial measure (IRMs) are expected to effectively address onsite sources and reduce migration of COPCs into the offsite area, additional actiosn were deemed necessary to address VOC-impacted groundwater, which has already migrated offsite to the south and southwest of the Site. Therefore, the Offsite IRMWP Addendum was prepared to minimize further migration of VOCs from the Site (to the extent possible) and reduce concentrations of Cherry Aerospace Facility-related VOCs in offsite groundwater to the south and southwest of the site.
