Document Description
The proposed project would provide fire and life safety improvements in selected UCSD campus instruction and research buildings to reduce fire-related hazards. Buildings would be retrofitted with automatic sprinkler systems and modern, fully adddressable fire alarm systems. These measures would provide automatic fire suppression, early fire detection and occupant alerting. The UCSD Police Department would receive transmission of fire alarm information. These buildings range in age from 21 to 55 years old and their systems have not been upgraded or replaced since construction of the buildings. Due to their age, the systems are obsolete and unreliable and pose a serious life safety threat to building occupants.
