Document Description
Pursuant to Energy Executive Order B-18-12 calling for a reduction in energy usage of 20 percent by the year 2018 for all state facilities, the CDCR is undertaking numerous energy savings projects. at CMC, CDCR is plannign to retrofit existing lighting, to decrease water usage, and to increase mechanical system efficiency. The project includes the following components: 1) Replace existing 100-Watt incandescent fixtures with light emitting diode (LED) fixtures; 2) Replace High Mast high pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures with LED fixtures; 3) Replace HPS fixtures with LED fixtures; 4) Replace high intensity discharge (HID) fixtures with LED fixtures; 5) Replace F32T8 fixtures with F28T8 fixtures; 6) Install low-flow water restrictors to the inmate showers and sinks in East & West Facilities; 7) Replace Dorm Water Heaters; 8) Replace the Dorm Heating Units; 9) Install time clocks on outlets used for electric cart and forklift charging; 10) Install variable frequency drives (VFD) on the Boiler Draw-Through Fans; 11) Install VFDs on 32 East Facility Housing Unit Supply Fans (5-hp each); 12) Replace Air Handler Economizers and Controls in East Facility Housing Units; 13) Replace the Central Plant Air Compressors; and 14) Upgrade the Controls to Digital Controls. The purpose of the project is to reduce electrical and water usage and maintenance costs, not to change the lighting and HVAC conditions. The intensity, timing, and duration of lighting will therefore remain the same.
