Document Description
Pursuant to Energy Executive Order B-18-12 calling for a reduction in energy usage of 20 percent by the year 2018 for all state facilities, the CDCR is undertaking numerous savings projects. At CIW, CDCR is planning to retrofit existing lighting and to increase mechanical system efficiencies. The project includes the following components: 1) convert high pressure sodium (HPS), metal halide (MH), and halogen fixtures to light emitting diode (LED) fixtures; 2) convert F32T8 fixtures to 28W 4' T8/LPF ballast fixtures; 3) install five 9.5 bhp CA special steam boilers at the main kitchen; 4) replace existing laundry equipment (5x Washing Machines, 7x Dryers) with gas powered equipment; 5) replace air handling units (AHU) and exhaust fans (EF); 6) Install condensing water heaters in kitchen, laundry, segregated housing unit, dormitories and administration; and 7) install natural gas infrastructure to water heaters and furnaces. The purpose of this project is to reduce electrical and maintenance costs, not to change the lighting and HVAC conditions. The intensity, timing, and duration of lighting will therefore remain the same.
