Document Description
The purpose of the project is to mitigate impacted soil that exceeds the project-specific industrial cleanup levels in order to minimize human exposure to the identified chemicals of concern (COCs). The CMP and CMI focus on partial concrete floor removal, limited soil excavation, and offsite disposal. The excavation includes two areas: 200 cubic yards of soil impacted with elevated levels of Chloroform, located in soils below the floor-slab in the Casting Coating Room No. 2, and 70 cubic yards of soil impacted with trichloroethene in the former Element Rolling Room. Following the excavation, a sub-slab depressurization system will then be installed to remove vapors from below the floor-slab that have the potential to migrate to indoor air.
