Document Description
Pursuant to Energy Executive Order B-18-12 calling for a reduction in energy usage of 20 percent by the year 2018 for all the state facilities, the CA Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is undertaking numerous energy savings projects. At High Desert State Prison (HDSP), CDCR is planning to retrofit existing lighting. The project includes the following components: 1) convert high pressure sodium (HPS) high mast fixtures to light emitting diode (LED) fixtures; 2) convert HPS wallpack fixtures to LED fixtures; 3) convert HPS stumble light fixtures to LED fixtures; 4) convert HPS cobra head fixtures to LEX fixtures; 5) convert HPS flood pole fixtures to LED fixtures; and 6) convert HPS ceiling canopy fixtures to LED fixtures. The purpose of the project is to reduce electrical usage and maintenance costs, not to change the lighting conditions. The intensity, timing, and duration of lighting will therefore remain the same.
