Document Description
CHP is proposing to replace and upgrade the Silver Peak telecommunications facility to meet the CHP Enhanced Radio System requirements. The existing vault and 50-foot-tall tower are inadequate to accommodate the digital multi-channel equipment and antennae requirements. Proposed improvements would include a new self-supporting, four-leg, 80-foot tall steel-lattice tower. The tower qould have a non-reflective galvanized finish and would not be lighted. The tower would be constructed ona concrete pad approximately 35 fet long by 35 feet wide and up to 6 feet thick; the pad would be buried 1 to 2 feet deep. A retaining wall would nearly surround the tower pad. A new =/- 15'x35' pre-fabricated equipment vault and an adjacent +/- 15'x12' concrete masonry generator vault would both be located on a separate concrete pad with maximum dimensions of about 40'x35'. The existing propane tank would be replaced with a larger tank on a new +/- 7'x20' concrete pad. Underground utilities would be extended between the ower, vault, and propane tank. If excess soil is generating during construction activities, iut would be disposed of within the existing telecommunications site, or would be transported off-site for disposal. No off-site improvements would be conducted as part of the proposed work. Upon completion of construction, the existing tower, vault, and propane tank would be demolished and removed.
