Document Description
Project scope includes digging percolation test pits in the soil, drilling for potential water well and performing activities related to a geotechnical and geologic hazards evaluation (borings to determine soil suitability and soil excavation). These activities will occur on a previously developed site. Although the well and some of the test borings will occur within a grassy area, the area will be minimally disturbed. All borings, testing pits and excavations will be backfilled with the native soil removed for testing purposes. If the water supply well is determined to have adequate water flow and suitable water quality, the well will remain in place and capped. The existing well will continue to serve the current fire station. The new well will only be used after it is determined that the parcel will accommodate a new fire station and all appropriate approvals, including CEQA, have been completed and the new station constructed. The testing is necessary to determine whether the existing parcel will accommodate a replacement fire station and required utility service systems.
