Document Description
The City of Hayward proposes to construct a new 3-story, 58,000 sf main library on a new downtown site on C Street that would expand library and community services that offers two homework tutoring centers; more public internet computers, education technology and wifi; technology training facilities for youth digital media and computer training classes; more community meeting/learning space; and a community learning/literacy center for adults and seniors. The building is being designed to meet a minimum LEED Gold standard and Zero Net Energy demands. The proposed project would demolish the existing main library and restore the civic plaza after constructing a new main library. The Project would include a recycled water system to capture rainwater for use in the new library gray water system and for irrigation of the plaza's green spaces.
