The Twitchell Habitat Enhancement Project (project) will expand and diversify the habitats on Twitchell Island. The specific objectives of this project are to design, plant, monitor, and maintain two new habitat enhancement sites (28 total acres), and replant three existing habitat mitigation sites (16.5 total acres) on Twitchell Island. The sites will first undergo invasive weed management to control/remove existing invasive weeds. Once accomplished, each site will be planted with native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous species during the late fall/early winter period. Once period, the sites will be monitored and managed to ensure successful establishment for five years after planting.
