Solano County Housing Element and Public Health and Safety Chapter

The Draft Solano County Housing Element update is designed to address the projected housing needs of current and future county residents and comply with state law requiring amendment of the Housing Element (Section 65580-65589.8 of the Government Code). The purpose of the Housing Element is to establish a comprehensive plan to address housing needs in the unincorporated area of Solano County, with a focus on meeting the housing needs of all economic segments of the community, including low- and moderate-income households who may have trouble affording market-rate housing and populations with special housing needs that may not necessarily be met through conventional housing products. The Housing Element identifies the policies and programs which the County will implement to ensure that housing in Solano County is affordable, safe, and decent. The Housing Element Update is intended to address the County's housing needs from January 31, 2015, through January 31, 2023. This planning period was established for Solano County and other Bay Area jurisdictions by state law. The updates to the Public Health and Safety Chapter are primarily intended to bring the Chapter into compliance with various sections of the California Government Code, Public Resource Code and Health and Safety Code, relative to floodplain mapping updates and fire hazard and responsibility area mapping updates.
