Document Description
The project requests a Use Permit for a new 11,006 sf winery production facility to be located off Meyers Grade Road, adjacent to the existing on-site tasting room. The grapes for the wine would come from the site and local area. The winery production facility would have a maximum annual production capacity of up to 18,000 cases and would be approximately 11,000 sf, including 5,000 sf underground barrel cellars and 5,000 sf of enclosed building containing a crush pad, fermentation area, storage area, offices, laboratory, an employee break room, and handicapped toilet. The access stairs and mechanical room are proposed to be approximately 1,000 sf in size. The 5,000 sf underground barrel cellars would take advantage of the earth's natural insulation and rely on ambient earth temperatures to keep the barrel rooms naturally cool, thus saving energy. The project proposes solar panels on the south-facing roof of the building. The hours of operation would be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., extending to 10:00 p.m. during the harvest and crush, seven days a week. The winery production facility would have four employees and only one new employee.
