Document Description
The project includes a General Plan Amendment to amend Section 5.0 (Circulation Element) of the Redlands General Plan by adding a new roadway cross-section (Figure 1) for a residential collector street for a portion of Pioneer Avenue, west of Orange Street and east of the 210 Freeway. The General Plan Amendment is necessary to facilitate the widening of Pioneer Avenue to preserve existing deodar cedar trees, which presently line the north side of Pioneer Avenue, by maintaining them in a median in the segment between Texas Street and Furlow Drive. Traffic congestion in the A.M. and afterschool P.M. peak hour, due in part to an increase in school-related traffic during these hours, further promotes the necessity to increase capacity of Pioneer Avenue and provide for increased vehicle traffic in the area.
