Document Description
The Project will provide surface water to farmland from Avenue 116 Canal in order to alleviate overdraft of groundwater. The proposed project objectives are to construct three underground pipelines to connect over 800 acres of farmland currently not being served with surface water from the Avenue 116 Canal within the Pixley Irrigation District. The project will obtain easements as the pipeline will cross county roads and right of ways, and will construct turnouts in Avenue 116 Canal at Road 152 and Road 140, as well as install 1 mile of pipeline heading south along Road 152 and 1 mile of pipeline heading south along Road 140. In addition, a lateral pipeline will head east to west from Road 152 at Avenue 108 and will terminate into the proposed recharge basin. The recharge basin will ensure excess water will be returned to groundwater. The pipelines are estimated to range in size from 18" to 36" and the capacity will be 4 cubic feet per second with smaller pipeline outlets with on/off valves and water meters.
