Document Description
Create defensible space and perform fuel reduction/modifications consistent with State Parks "Guidelines for the Protection of Structures from Wildland Fire" in Annadel State Park to create a defensible space from wildland fires. Project will prune and limb up to 10' above ground, remove dead trees and shrubs, and generally thin vegetation along the park boundary near the Bennett Ridge neighborhood and along a portion of the Ridge Trail which functions as a fire road. All work will be conducted with CalFire crews in coordination with a State Park Environmental Scientist. Access to the work area will be on foot. All trimmed material will be scattered on site. Any work performed with mechanized tools (including chainsaws) will be performed outside Northern spotted owl nesting season. All work will be performed outside standard bird nesting season unless the area is surveyed for the presence of bird nests. Work may be performed over multiple years.
