Document Description
The proposed project is the third annual Mariachi Festival and Competition, which will take place at Pepper Park in the City of National City on Saturday, March 15, 2015. The District will provide event sponsorship and financial assistance for the event, a community-friendly festival that will provide entertainment for families to come together and celebrate San Diego's Mexican heritage through mariachi music and traditional ballet folklorico dancing. The festival will highlight mariachi music in the schools by showcasing mariachi students groups from throughout the United States and Mexico. The festival will also celebrate Mexican arts, culture, and culinary delights. The festival has an expected attendance of approx. 14,000 people. The event will require the use of approx. 76 parking spaces at Pepper Park. Parking will also be available to the event attendees and public at lot J located across the street from Pepper Park. Since the parking spaces will be reserved for a limited time period, the project will not result in significant impacts related to public parking.
