The community of Strathmore is located on the east side of the San Joaquin Valley near the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the southeastern area of Tulare County. The community is situated approximately five miles southeast of Visalia, the County seat and largest city of the County and 70 miles southeast of Fresno. SR 65 is located within the westerly portion of the community, and SR 99 is located approx. 17 miles west of the SR 65. both of these highway serve as primary regional access routes to the area.
The community of Strathmore is an unincorporated area of approx. 2,500 persons. Strathmore is an agricultural community which is served by the San Joaquin Valley Railroad (formerly Southern Pacific Railroad) and is surrounded on the north, west, east, and south by lands in agricultural production.
Document Description
The Proposed Community Planning Study Area consists of approx. 1,000 acres and the area is generally south of Avenue 200, west of the Firant-Kern Canal of Avenue 190 and immediately east and west of SR 65.
The purpose of the Proposed Plan is to provide direction for the Tulare County Resource Management Agency, Board and Planning Commission in the implementation of methods and procedures to satisfy the needs of the residents and business community in the development of a viable and active commercial and industrial base Strathmore.
