Note: Shortened Review The Beverly Hills Unified School District is proposing improvements at Beverly Hills High School, Hawthorne K-8 School, and El Rodeo K-8 School to rehabilitate the existing structures at each campus through architectural upgrades, seismic upgrades, mechanical upgrades, electrical upgrades, technological upgrades and plumbing upgrades. Additionally, the proposed project includes the demolition of some buildings and construction of new buildings, as well as new perimeter fencing for additional security and access control. The proposed project also includes modifications to existing and new athletic facilities, and new parking facilities. Finally, hazardous materials, primarily asbestos and lead paint are in many of the buildings and will be removed, as well as soil contamination at BHHS and El Rodeo, as part of the proposed project. The proposed project will not result in an increase in the student, faculty or staff population beyond that of the current design capacity of the schools.
