Document Description
The selected NFA remedy at OU 1A is for soil and sediments only. The NFA is founded upon data and information derived from previous and other environmental investigations at OU 1A which demonstrated that there is no significant risk to human health and the environment under current or potential future site uses. Environmental investigations were initiated at NASNI by the Naval Energy and Environmental Support Activity (NEESA) in 1983 uncer the Installation REstoration (IR) Program by conducting an Initial Assessment Study (IAS). Nine investigations were completed for outfalls at IR SIte 1 between 1983 and 2011. These investigations provided comprehensive characterization of IR Site 1 through analysis of sediment, groundwater, and surface water samples and found contaminants to pose no significant risks.
