Document Description
Close volunteer trails leading to and from Inspiration Point. Import clean soil from local sources in park and fill erosion gullies. cover areas of bare soil and newly imported soil with erosion control mats. Place coir logs in drainage zones to restrict rain runoff. Re-vegetate with native species within the erosion control zones. Develop watering schedule of plants. Install Will Rogers Ranch Style fence along southern edge of overlook to keep people off re-vegetation area. Remove dilapidated picnic table, benches and hitching post. Replace benches with benches donated via the CA State Parks Foundation. Maximum of four benches at outer edge of point looking to south, southeast. Two 6"x18" holes would be required for each bench for securing to a concrete base. Install two new or refurbished picnic tables. Secure tables to concrete base. Tables will be located away from outer edge of point. Install new hitching post that matches historic elements of park. Install interpretive panel describing the Historic Inspiration Loop and Point. Would require two post holes, 6"x14". Determine if patches of old asphalt pavement at Inspiration Point is historic to the period of Will Rogers; if not, remove patches of asphalt.
