Document Description
The City of West Sacramento, in cooperation with the California Department of Transportation, is proposing a new 0.4-mile multi-modal roadway. The proposed project would extend Village Parkway from where it currently terminates at the intersection of Stonegate Drive to the Mike McGowan Bridge over the Yolo Barge Canal. The new roadway would be built to accommodate two 12-foot-wide lanes in each direction but would initially be striped for one. The build alternative would also include a 16 foot wide raised median, 6 foot wide bicycle lanes, 5 foot wide sidewalks set back from the curb by 5 foot wide landscaping strips, street lights, and underground utility infrastructure. The purpose of the project is to construct a new north-south roadway connecting the Mike McGowan Bridge to Village Parkway; relieve current and projected traffic congestion on nearby Jefferson Boulevard; improve road access for residents in the Southport neighborhood; and reduce cut-through traffic on Stonegate Drive and Gateway Drive.
