Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Department) has approved this Initial Study, examining the potential environmental impacts of the alternatives being considered for the project to provide two-way, left turn lanes (TWLTL) at four locations on State Route (SR-62) in Joshua Tree in San Bernardino County. They are Segment 1 Post Miles (PM 16.75 to PM1695), Segment 2 (PM 19.05 to PM 20.15), Segment 3 (PM 22.15 to PM 23.15) and Segment 4 (PM 24.2 to PM 25.2). It is necessary to widen the existing roadbed an additional 12 feet to accommodate this extra lane. This is accomplished by removing the shoulder and adding new pavement on one or both sides of the highway.
