The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) would provide funding to reforest up to 10,143 acres of Ponderosa Pine forest lost during the 2012 Barry Point Fire. Treatments include herbicide application and manual tree planting. The purpose of these treatments is to promote long-term forest health, sustainable timber harvest, and demonstrate efficacy of climate beneficial prescriptions. The entire project was evaluated by Central Modoc Resource Conservation District, including preparation of the ‘Barry Point Fire Restoration Project’ Environmental Study (IS) and Negative Declaration and determined that the project would not result in significant adverse environmental impacts.
