Document Description
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has approved a Class II Interim Status Permit Modification for the installation of a Surge Tank (Unit 79), a Centrifuge Unit (Unit 81), and four new ancillary sumps at the Exide Technologies, Inc. Facility in Vernon California. This modification was submitted to meet the requirements for Exide to continue to operate the Facility in accordance with Hazardous Waste Regulations. The Surge Tank is a 4,925 gallon High Density Poly Ehylene (HDPE) tank for storage of filtrate liquids from the Waste Water Treatment Plant Filler Press (Unit 44) and the Raw Materials Preparation System (RMPS Filter Press Unit B (Unit 45). The Surge Tank is a necessary proactive measure to help relieve pressure on the outlet of the filter press, which will ensure continued proper operations.
