Caltrans is proposing to construct a tieback retaining wall to stabilize the roadway adjacent to the Middle Fork Smith River due to the failure of two existing steel bin walls. The proposed 180 foot-long soldier pile wall will encapsulate the two existing walls and the slipout between them. A Type 80 architectural barrier is proposed for the top of the wall; centerline rumble strips will also be installed as part of the project.
