This project will replace and reconstruct the 2 wooden gates at the East and South entrances (respectively) of Sutter's Fort State Historic Park to maintain the historic structure. Neither gate, nor its hardware is original to the fort; both gates were installed in 1958 based on historical drawings from 1847. The South gate was rebuilt in 1991. There will be no ground disturbance. Salvaged "old growth" redwood will be used to reproduce the historical look and feel of the origianl gates. THe existing hardware will be reused. All design elements and measurements will be copied from the existing gates.
