Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2014-0065-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Simi Valley. The project is limited to the alteration of two streams in order to widen West Los Angeles Avenue. Both streams are associated with existing culverts and both culverts will require modifications. Project activities will improve the operational efficiency of the existing culverts and provide slope protection for the roadway to prevent damage during storm events. Both culverts drain into streams that are direct tributaries to the Arroyo Simi. Where Salamos Canyon Creek crosses under West Los Angeles Avenue, the existing reinforced concrete box culvert (12 feet in width and 9 feet in height) will be modified. Temporarily disturbed areas along the channel banks will be revegetated. Impacts to Alamos Canyon Creek include temporary and permanent impacts of 0.02 acres each. The project will also require modification of a culvert near Quimisa Drive that drains into an unnamed tributary to the Arroyo Simi. Impacts to this unnamed drainage include permanent impacts of less than 0.01 acres. Maintenance activities may also be carried out during th term of this Agreement. These activities include the trimming of vegetation and the removal of accumulated silt and debris from the culverts.
