Document Description
DTSC, pursuant to authority granted under Health and Safety Code, Section 25167, approved Pilot Study work plans for Univar USA, Inc. (Univar) to conduct pilot studies of advanced oxidation (ozone+peroxide) and enhanced bioremediation, as groundwater cleanup technologies for the destruction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in groundwater. The primary contaminants of concern are the industrial solvent tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and trichloroethylene (TCE). both PCE and TCE are present in on-site and off-site groundwater at levels exceeding drinking water maximum contaminant levels. The anticipated timeframe of the advanced oxidation pilot study is two months of active treatment followed by two months of monitoring. The anticipated timeframe of the bioremediation pilot study is five months of active treatment followed by 3-4 months of monitoring.
