Document Description
DTSC pursuant to authority granted under Chapter 6.8, Division 20, Sections 25323.1and 25356.1 of the Health and Safety Code (H&SC) approved the Removal Action Workplan (RAW) for the Ecology Control Industries Site (ECI) submitted on July 1, 2014 by Sharp Environmental Technologies (SET). The human exposure to the identified chemicals of concert (COCs). The RAW details the proposed work for excavation, transport and off-site disposal of approximately 12,500 cubic yards of contaminated soil with elevated levels of Chlordane, 4-4-DDD, 4-4-DDE, 4-4-DDT, Dieldrin, Toxaphene, and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH). The impacted soil will be disposed of at a permitted landfill site. Soil will be sampled and excavation will continue until the lateral and vertical limits of the excavation result in soil samples that are below cleanup goals for this Site. When clean soil is found and excavation is complete, clean fill material will be backfilled and compacted immediately following DTSC approval of the remedial action. Because the depth of excavation may reach 25 feet below ground surface (bgs), sidewall shoring will be necessary to ensure worker safety. The RAW includes a construction plan, health and safety plan detailing procedures for worker protection during the course of the project, a quality assurance project plan and a transportation plan for waste disposal.
