Document Description
Caltrans proposes to construct a longer deceleration lane on I-5 in Sacramento County, CA at post mile (PM) 31.8 to 32.8. The project is located near Airport Blvd, which is the entrance road into the Sacramento International Airport. The project is needed because the Sacramento International Airport has expanded its services and operations, while supporting more air traffic. As a result, traffic volumes have increased on this segment of I-5. The project's purpose is to construct a longer deceleration lane to allow traffic to merge more efficiently at the north bound (N/B) off ramp to Airport Blvd. By providing a 1,500 foot long lane, the merging and weaving of vehicles existing the freeway will be reduced.
