Document Description
A temporary emergency Hazardous Waste Permit (Permit) has been issued to BNSF Railway (BNSF) to flare off liquid natural gas (LNG) from a disabled fuel tender rail car. The permit allows for approximately 1000 gallons of LNG to be flared off. The disabled rail car is currently located in a rail yard at 200 North Avenue H in Barstow. A fuel pump on the rail car has failed and cannot be repaired unless all of the LNG is purged. Most of the LNG can be pumped from the rail car; however flaring will be used to remove the remaining residual amount.
