Document Description
The project entails dredging approximately 136,000 cubic yards of material from Dana Point Harbor. Sediment deposition in the harbor occurs from littoral sediment transport, which enters the harbor through the entrance channel, permeable breakwater, and storm drain discharges. This results in navigational hazard conditions due to shoaling. The Applicant proposes to carry out maintennace dredging to remove these shoaled areas and reuse suitable sandy material for beach nourishment at Baby Beach and Capistrano Beach. Dredge material will be disposed of within the harbor at Baby Beach, at the LA-3 Designated Dredge Material Disposal Site offshore Newport Beach, San Juan Capistrano County Beach (Capistrano Beach) and an upland landflll for material not suitable for beach or ocean disposal.
