Document Description
The purpose of this project is to provide enhanced defensible space to homes and properties along the northern perimeter of the San Diego County Estates (SDCE), located in the San Vicente Valley, six miles southeast of the unincorporated community of Ramona in San Diego County. This project will incorporate properties owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), San Diego County Estates Association, and private landowners. The intent of this project is to reduce a potential fire's intentsity, and decrease the threat of fire originating from the adjacent urban area. A portion of this project, known as the San Vicente Fuel Break, was previously treated by the Bureau of Land Management. The project is within the footprint of both the 2003 Cedar fire and the 2007 Witch Fire. The project proposes establishing an enhanced defensible space zone by reducing the veritcal and horizontal continuity of fuels within the zone.
