Document Description
The proposed project is programmed under the State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) as a Safety Improvement Program (201.010). The project proposes to install centerline rumble strips and shoulder or edge line rumble strips for narrow shoulders along various sections of State Route 12 and SR 26 in San Joaquin and Calaveras Counties. No ground disturbance is proposed and all work will be within existing pavement and right of way. The need is to reduce the number and severity of collisions caused by drivers crossing the centerline and/or leaving the travelled lanes. The purpose of the project is to reduce the no. and severity of cross-centerline head-on, sideswipes, and run-off collisions.
