Document Description
DTSC, pursuant to authority granted under Chapter 6.8, Division 20, sections 25323.1 and 25356.1 of the Health and Safety Code (H&SC), approved a Removal Action Workplan (RAW) as submitted on 20 March, 2014 by Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. The purpose of the project is to remove contaminant mass from soil and minimize migration of contaminants. The soil cleanup goal is set at residential CHHSLs for all contaminants of potential concerns (COPCs), except arsenic. The cleanup level for arsenic is the expected upper bound background concentration of 10 ppm. The RAW focuses on excavation of approximately 250-300 cubic yards of soil impacted with elevated levels of arsenic, chromium and copper from previous site activities which will then be transported by trucks for off-site disposal at an appropriate permitted landfill facility. Implementation of the RAW is scheduled to commence in the summer 2014 and is expected to take approximately 60 days to complete. Soil confirmation sampling will occur after excavation of the contaminated soil. Following the removal activities, the pit will be backfilled with native and/or imported fill and will be appropriately compacted.
