Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-INY-24255-R6), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, for the Project Applicant, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). The proposed Project is limited to the removal and replacement of the existing structure connecting Loco Creek to the Los Angeles Aqueduct (LAA); construction of a 30-foot-long and 47-foot-wide concrete inlet structure in Loco Creek which includes two wing walls; earthwork which includes excavation, grading, and compaction, which will be performed in the bed, bank, and channel of Loco Creek; cutting of approximately 365 cubic feet (cf) from the north embankment of Loco creek; cutting of approximately 25 cf from the south embankment of Loco Creek; the removal of two Fremont cottonwood (Populus fremontii) trees from the channel of Loco Creek, one with a Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) of 27.5 inches, the second with a DBH of 34.1 inches; and clearing and grubbing of areas as a result of Project activities. If water diversion is required, a plastic-lined temporary cofferdam will be constructed, and sandbags will be placed upgradient of the work area in Loco Creek to impound any water in the channel during work; a temporary 24-inch High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) gravity-fed diversion pipe will be placed in the cofferdam that will convey water around the work site to the LAA; a 6-inch diesel powered pump and hose will be on standby if needed in the water diversion process; after all construction for the LAA realignment, inlet, and wing walls are complete, all diversion materials will be removed.
