Document Description
The 2016 Earvin “Magic Johnson (EMJ) Recreation Area Master Plan included expansion and rehabilitation of the EMJ Recreation Area and construction of new recreational facilities. The Master Plan and the accompanying EIR were approved by the Board of Supervisors in February 2016. The County subsequently prepared the 2016 Revised Master Plan to make changes to certain facilities that were included in the 2016 Master Plan, and an Addendum to the EIR was prepared and approved in June 2018. The County has further prepared the 2019 Revised Master Plan, which includes the removal of the music center and equestrian center, construction of the nature lab during a future phase, downsizing and relocation of the museum, addition of passive park uses to the east side, relocation of the visitor parking access point, relocation and expansion of the South Agency maintenance yard, and relocation and expansion of the dog park. Two outdoor athletic fields would be developed during Phase lB and the capacity of the surface parking lot would be increased. Development on the Project site would continue to be phased overtime, as previously assumed in the 2016 Master Plan, Addendum No. 2 to the EIR has been prepared.
