CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2016-0181-R5, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Santa Barbara County Public Works Department represented by Morgan Jones. Project, as proposed, consists of a 970 foot long Class 1 bike path between Kellogg Ave. and Merida Drive including installation of a free-span bridge over San Jose Creek. The bike path will be ten feet wide and include one-foot shoulders on each side. The bike path will be paved with asphalt concrete over an aggregate base. The crossing over San Jose Creek will be constructed of pre-fabricated steel, approx. 140 feet long and 12 feet wide with a wood surface decking over steel. Concrete abutments to support the bridge will be driven or drilled piles involving excavation and pour of wet cement inside of the streambed but still within the riparian habitat zone of the streambed. Project will involve earthwork consisting of approx. 70 cubic yards of cut and 720 cubic yards of fill with 650 cubic yards of clean fill imported. Equipment used to complete the project will include heavy-duty trucks, a backhoe, drill rig, excavator, and a cement truck.
