Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2014-0048-R2 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, SacMetro Lane Development, Inc. The project consists of 849 single family residential lots, park sites, detention basin, and open space corridor containing the Gerber Creek channel and a pedestrian/bike trail. As part of the project development, Gerber Creek will be deepened and widened to convey 100-year storm water fun-off through the project area. The Gerber Creek channel will be within a preserve corridor that will measure approximately 225 feet wide from edge of buffer to buffer. The improved channel will be approximately 10'+/- deep with 3:1 to 4:1 side slopes, an approximately 25' bottom width, and a meandering low flow channel. Emergent wetland species will be planted in the channel bottom, and habitat benches will be created at the channel bends. The benches will be planted with herbaceous seasonal wetland plant species and willow. Other components of the project include; the extension of an existing pier and slab bridge crossing; sewer and water pipes extended long the south side of Gerber Road; the extension of an existing concrete box culvert; nine (9) outfalls will discharge storm water runoff into Gerber Creek (three outfalls will be 48" diameter, and six outfalls will be 36" diameter or smaller); concrete energy dissipaters will be constructed above the OHWM; and utility line crossings will be required in the channel at two locations. Total temporary impacts to Gerber Creek are expected to be approximately 5,900 linear feet (4.37 acres) due to excavation of approximately 120,000 cubic yards of soil. Permanent impacts are expected to total approximately 569 linear feet of channel, placement of 87.1 cubic yards of concrete and 11 cubic yards of riprap.
