Document Description
Under direction from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Geocon requests a Right-of-Entry permit to conduct geotechnical investigations for the design and construction of a people mover to be located west of the Mountain Station in Mount San Jacinto State Park. Geocon will excavate up to eight (8) four-inch diameter test borings with a hang auger, or six-to-eight-inch test bores with a gasoline powered auger. Sampling will be performed within the borings to collect soil samples for lab testing. Borings will be backfilled with locally derived material. Geocon may also perform a seismic refraction survey to help determine the subsurface conditions. The seismic refraction survey includes placing an array of geophones along the people mover alignment and measuring the response of energy waves in the subsurface. Geocon excepts the boring sample field work to be completed in one day. The seismic refraction survey will be completed in one or two additional days. If snow is on the ground, an additional day may be needed to remove snow at the geophone locations. Boring locations will be accessed by foot along a path west of the mountain station. Wheel barrows or carts will be needed to transport equipment and samples. DPR-approved standard project requirements have been incorporated into this project.
