Document Description
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a permit to the National marine Fisheries Service- Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 2081(a) for research in California state waters. The section 2081(a) permit authorizes SWFSC to incidentally take Longfin Smelt, Coho Salmon, and Chinook Salmon during the course of its research subject to terms and conditions set forth in the permit. The purpose of this research has three components: study juvenile salmonids in their ocean habitat, access year class strength of various rockfish and other young groundfish, flatfish, or roundfish for various biological studies. Fish collection will be conducted aboard NOAA research vessels or contracted fishing vessels using trawl and hook and line gear.
