Document Description
The proposed project would construct a new bridge over the Sacramento River between Sacramento and West Sacramento to replace the vehicular crossing that is provided by the existing I Street Bridge. The project would facilitate vehicular and multimodal traffic over the river in order to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety, and remove a number of structurally deficient or functionally obsolete bridges that have reached the limit of their design life. While the existing I Street Bridge over the Sacramento River would remain in place and continue to be used for railroad operations, the approach structures leading up to the bridge from both directions would be demolished.
