Document Description
Use permit application of Inn Town Development, proposing to amend an existing use permit, approved in 1997, to expand the recreational use of the property by constructing a recreational 70-unit campground facility to include a variety of camping options with a 3,000 sf community building, swimming pool, and hiking trails. The prior use was a tourist train operation throughout the site. The existing rail track was removed and the roadbed will be used for access roads and emergency access. The site contains a historic Chinese Cemetery and remnants of the New and Old Mohawk Mine Shafts; these sites will be enhanced and made available for public view, education and preservation. The use permit includes a 24-hour camp host to oversee the operation. Tree removal of 162 trees within building footprints is less than 10% of approx. 2000 trees on site.
